Just caught up with the latest Playhouse Presents. This episode was entitled Psychobitches and was absolutely hilarious. I’d say it’s been my favourite so far although each is so different it’s almost redundant to compare.
Rebecca Front plays the psychiatrist to historical females ranging from Joan of Arc to Beatrix Potter. Jane Austen, played by Sharon Horgan, writes a crude Sex and the City style diary whilst in the waiting room. Meanwhile, Edith Piaf (Catherine Tate) makes an extensive list of things she actually does quite regret (including persevering with dried apricots and her lesbian phase). The highlight for me has to be Samantha Spiro as Judy Garland. I was absolutely blown away by her performance and transformation, especially in comparison to her recent dowdy role in Grandma’s House.
I really can’t recommend this enough so, if it’s floating around on the internet or still available on catch-up, please give it a watch.
